In the link that is provided shows that the military has found new ways to retrieve information and or find individuals by developing a new technology in which a team of scientists funded by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) have implanted miniature neural and muscle stimulation systems into beetles to enable their flight to be remotely controlled.
The City of Norfolk many Dream of
Norfolk is taking the initiative to improve the city by promoting sustainability, utilizing green building practices, as well as educating and promoting the residence about the practices of conserving energy. In order to meet the needs of today we must consider environmental sustainability without compromising or affecting the ability of future generations to meet the needs of the future. This will help in preparation for potential risks in the present as well as the future and preserve the environment we live in. Building green infrastructures within the City of Norfolk will establish a sense of sustainability by developing run off systems to assist with flooding problems.
The PlaNorfolk 2030 has the resources to establish green infrastructures to enhance the use of the environment around us. Norfolk possesses a number of different resources that will not only protect the environment, but also to enhance it. Natural resources that are provided to Norfolk stretches up and down the Chesapeake Bay beaches and dunes as well as the rivers and wetlands within and around the city. Norfolk is surrounded by water with an estimated 144 miles of shoreline along with bays, rivers and about 750 acres of wetlands, which provides a large aquatic ecosystem. Utilizing city parks, open green spaces, and street trees can play a significant part in developing a sustainable environment.
Unlike other run off systems such as storm water infrastructures that consist of pipes to dispose and manage rainwater, green infrastructures uses the vegetation and soil within and around the city to manage rainwater where it falls. Developing these types of infrastructures utilizes the natural processes within our environment that provides a way to manage storm water, flood mitigation, air quality management, and many other positive advantages to support a sustainable environment. Green infrastructures is a solution that can replace and or repair the City of Norfolk that can meet many objectives to develop a green environment.

I have found some information from a number of sites that maybe able to help us find a solution to parking at ODU. I found solutions from different universities such as Georgia, Oregon, and UCF in which some of them talk about establishing perimeter parking with bus services around the clock to help students, faculty and employees get to campus without dealing with the problems of on campus parking. They also suggest car pooling and riding bikes to reduce students, faculty and staff from having troubles with parking. UCF explains building new parking garages around campus as well as utilizing areas that are not being occupied by buildings or anything else can be used to develop parking spaces.
Heres the link for future parking services for ODU.
GM has developed technology provided for anyone who sits in the backseat of a car. Providing a window that will allow children as well as adults interact with the window using apps. GM asked the Bezalel students to turn car windows into interactive displays capable of stimulating awareness, nurturing curiosity and encouraging a stronger connection with the world outside the vehicle. Researchers are concerned with the overall health of football players because of the constant high impact collisions that may cause brain damage to these athletes. Recently a gentlemen from Southern Mississippi University came up with a idea to improve the protection of the athletes when making contact. It was designed to minimize the impact of of the collisions by adding an extra layer of padding to the helmet which absorbs the impact. Take a look at the link and it goes in further detail to explain the new technology.
Abstract 1: Technology Overview and Impact
Brooks, D. (2001). Facing Up to Our Fears. Newsweek, 138(17), 66.
At the beginning of the 21st century our nation was struck by the terror of September 11th, which installed fear throughout the nation. A nation of people that ignored foreign affairs have been impacted by the event and were struck by fear. Fear can strike at any given moment, but many feel fear, sadness, frustration and anger through their experience of that day. Americans go as far as preparing for the next attack by buying supplies and building safe rooms. We are a nation that is an Individualistic society, focusing on what is happening in our country, but not following what maybe happening in others that may affect our society. Israel for example, may have their differences amongst each other, but in times of crisis they come together as a nation and believe in their leaders to solve the matter. We as a nation have courage and have been able to face the fears that were installed in many on September 11th. Enemies help realize what must be done, to do what is right and to restore order in society.
I would have to agree with Brooks because many Americans like to keep to themselves and many like to ignore the outside world. The reason why our society doesn’t really pay attention to politics is because people have the belief that politicians are dishonest as well as finding out about different scandals they may have committed. Our government also withholds a lot of information from society and the people know it. This causes society not to trust the leaders of this country. Now, I don’t think that should be any excuse for people not to pay attention to what is going on throughout the rest of the world, to stay informed and believe that the leaders of this nation will do what is best for this country.
